Mac McInman passed away on 9th October 2013, after a short battle with cancer.  Mac played in the 'The Silhouettes' and 'Sound Advice' before joining 'The Kavalliers', and backed many NZ iconic singers.  He also played in resident bands at the Delmonico Coffee Lounge, Surfside Ballroom and the Romaleigh Reception Lounge.  At the time of his death Mac was rhythm guitarist and vocalist for 'The Kavalliers'.

So sorry to hear this, Bruce, Pete & Andy. Thoughts to all. - Graham Gibson
I worked with Mac at the Delmonico.  These were great days, and Mac was a really great Band Leader.  We had huge fun and loved our music.  Mac created an ambience of trust and camaraderie that made music fun beyond belief, and even though our ways parted, I'll never forget his leadership. - Tony Blomfield
Like so many of us, my association with Mac came about through music.  In my case I helped out on bass when the incumbent was absent in “Sound Advice” plus joined Mac in the “Gilmores” special trade nights band on occasion while he was still employed by them.  When he needed his back operation(s), I fed him all sorts of self-help books to assist his rehabilitation but I suspect it was his unique sense of humour that actually helped most !   He will be missed………..  - John Campion

It was very sad to receive the news of Mac's passing even though we knew it was a matter of time.  I had the privilege of playing music with Mac in, I think, the Mk4 line-up of The Silhouettes in the late sixties.  He was a very competent musician and vocalist, a great guy with an 'off the wall' sense of humour.  I have enjoyed the few reunions of the Silhouettes at birthday parties and at the annual musician's bash.  He will be sorely missed. A legend of his time really. - Mal Finlayson
To Mac's family we send our best wishes at this difficult time.  We had some fun back in the day & he brought much pleasure to many people with his music.  Will be sadly missed.  Love - Ray & Chrissy Woolf
Very sorry to hear this news. - Pete Grattan
