Peter Cox passed away in early March 2015 after a prolonged illness.  Peter played bass for Terry Dean & the Nitebeats and Red Hewitt & the Buccaneers, amongst others.

Peter Cox.. The little General.. I'm really lost for words and really 'sad' that my dear friend has past away.  He did tell me he wasn't going to hang around for long and go through suffering.. He sent me what was going to be his "last Email" I figured he new he was going to split the scene real soon.  I have an 'ache' in my heart, that's all I can say.  Miss him R.I.P. mate... have fun be happy and keep playing…….:-) - Errol Timbers
That is sad, I've worked with Peter in both Bands and caught up with him again around 5 years ago, R.I.P. Mate - Patrick Harrison
RIP Peter you will be missed.  A true character and a lovely man.  One of Auckland's first bass guitar players who played with many well known bands and a musician all his life.  A pleasure to have known you. - Bill Belton
I played with Peter back in the early 1960s.  I lived Rothesay Bay then and we did gigs mostly on the North Shore.  Peter was a conscientious musician who was always smiling and very positive.  I believe he and his wife were the proud parents of the 500,000th baby in Auckland.  My sincere sympathies go to his family and friends. -  Dave “Red” Williamson
